The regulation for IoT Operator License, or usually called SISKOMDAT (Penyelenggara Jasa Sistem Komunikasi Data)  refers to rules and guidelines set by the Indonesian government to govern entities providing data communication system services. These services typically include the transmission of data between networks and systems, such as internet service providers, private network providers, and data center services.

Key Aspects of SISKOMDAT Regulation:

  1. Licensing:
    • Companies offering SISKOMDAT services must obtain a license from the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (KOMINFO), based on Permen_Kominfo_No_1_2019.
    • Licenses typically require compliance with technical, operational, and financial criteria.
  2. Scope of Services:
    • SISKOMDAT services often cover data transmission, networking, and communication system integration.
    • These services may be offered to businesses, government agencies, or consumers.
  3. Compliance with National Standards:
    • Service providers must comply with national regulations on cybersecurity, data protection, and system interoperability.
  4. Data Localization:
    • In line with regulations such as PP No. 71 of 2019 (Government Regulation on Electronic Systems and Transactions), service providers may need to store certain types of data within Indonesia.
  5. Supervision and Reporting:
    • SISKOMDAT operators are typically subject to audits, reporting requirements, and inspections by KOMINFO.
  6. Cybersecurity:
    • Providers must ensure the security of data communications, prevent cyber threats, and comply with the country's cybersecurity regulations, such as The Personal Data Protection Act (Undang-Undang Perlindungan Data Pribadi / UU PDP)
